ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE -- President Bush solicited foreign policy advice from former President Bill Clinton at CIA briefings this week and even told Mr. Clinton that he liked his approach to reforming Social Security. 'It was really a lot of fun, Mr. Bush told reporters yesterday after spending three days with Mr. Clinton and former President George Bush in Rome. 'These CIA briefings a lot of time prompt policy discussions,' he added. 'It's interesting to get their points of view about their experiences in particular countries.'

"George, Ahhh think you're a pretty swell guy. And ahhh love you man."
"You're not getting my Bud Light, Bill"
If we wanted more Clinton we would have elected Al Gore.
Let's see how the liberal media- who have constantly portrayed our President as an arrogant SOB who takes no advice- try and spin this against him.
Ah but you did, with popular vote.
It's a good idea to get advice from Clinton.
And then do the exact opposite of what he advocates.
GW: "I'm a uniter, not a divider"
I'm sure 'W' considers X42 to be nothing more than a sick joke played by on America by the fickle forces of history.
If he's getting advice -- then he better do the exact opposite.
Indeed.
It is easier to defeat the enemy once you understand them.
File under "going through the motions."
The dems/media have been calling Bush's SS privatization proposal a non-starter and dead. His remarks are meant to refute that.
As to the foreign policy discussions, the president's description of them as "fun" conveys a certain something and I have no doubt there was a good reason for the meeting.
W is a man of honor and courage. He went over to former President Clinton and asked him for some advice. There are 2 reasons for this. One, listen to what Clinton had to say and then do the exact opposite of it. Two, by getting getting Clinton all spun up and occupied by talking about policy on Air Force One, he was protecting the female members of the crew and other female travelers onboard. It must have been a tremendous sacrifice (g)
In all seriousness, I dislike Clinton as much as the next person, but seeking advice from 1 or 2 of the only living people who have occupied the office of President is not a bad thing.
Sure I buy that, just like I bought this stunning piece of oceanfront property in Arkansas...
Ah, but he was unelected after he was elected.
The title header doesn't match the article
I'm not overly suprised. A sitting President talking to a ex-President. Both of them are privy to information the public could never hope to see. Also, it helps to know where the previous administration went wrong. And of course, we ALL know that all politician, esp. at the national level are part of "the club".
I look at it like one of those "before/after" comparisons.
GW gets to see first hand the kind of idiocy that allows things to go to hell in a handcart in only eight years.
