Canadian Media Watch

A blogger in Canada has created a brouhaha over his complaints directed toward a Canadian Broadcast Corporation radio show "Metro Morning" for promoting a "Week Against War" event. The complaint resulted in an email from one of the radio hosts, Andy Barrie, inviting the offended party to "Leave Canada." The complaints appeared on the Angry in the Great White North blog, run by an anonymous engineer who goes by the name "Daggett" after the angry beaver of cartoon fame.  The complaints also ran on the CBC Watch forum. The CBC Watch describes itself as an independent forum dedicated to exposing the Canadian Broadcast Corporation's violation of the Broadcasting Act. Specifically, the Act requires that the CBC "provide a reasonable opportunity for the public to be exposed to the expression of differing views on matters of public concern" [3I(iv)]

Daggett complained that the "Metro Morning" crew, including host Andy Barrie, plugged at length the "Week Against War" event. Daggett explained that the sponsors "are not people dedicated to relieving the suffering of war by raising money for humanitarian aid, like antibiotics or clothes or food and other emergency supplies, to mitigate the suffering in conflict zones anywhere in the world. Instead, and this comes as no surprise, they are dedicated to the goal of 'ousting' (their word) George W. Bush, because, as we all know, if George W. Bush was out of the picture, there would be no wars and suffering."

The beaver-blogger contended that the presentation fell short of the goal of "comprehensive" presentation of information: "The CBC Journalistic Standards and Practices is clear and uncompromising: The broadcast media in particular have an obligation to be fair, accurate, thorough, comprehensive and balanced in their presentation of information."

The CBC is merely a liberal appendage. State run, it generally only espouses Liberal dogma

I read this today too and thought the bigger story way a state owned news network was actively advocating Canadian interference in our government to the point of raising money. I love most Canadians, our northern brothers, but just like here in the good old USA Canadians have their idiots too. Can you just imagine the outcry if PBS or NPR was actively trying to affect the outcome of Canadian elections, or French and German elections? Its one thing for political pundits on one of the Networks or Cable Stations to make those kinds of comments but media funded and run by the government should not be advocating any political philosophy.

I couldn't help myself earlier. Sorry. Ok...

' The complaint resulted in an email from one of the radio hosts, Andy Barrie, inviting the offended party to "Leave Canada." '

If they don't like violence, how can they evict him?

No. You are not an idiot. You'd be defending your 'glorious country' if you were, just like I'd be cheering Bush about borders if I were an idiot. FReegards....

Wait, you mean somehow ousting a President in his second term who cannot run again anyway wouldn't put an end to all wars and all suffering on the entire planet?

My 'glorious' country ceased to exist sometime in the 1960's.

STOP THE PRESSES!! I just had an epiphany. Lets send all our liberal pantie waste, draft dodging, intolerant idiots up to Canada, and give asylum to any and all "embarrassed Canadians" who'd rather live in reality?
We keep telling our liberals to get out of the country, and apparently all Canadian liberals want their alpha male counterparts out of the picture. I see nothing but an upside here. We'd probably lessen the trade deficit with all the Enzyte, mascara, nail polish, and bikini briefs we'd be shipping up there.

You wouldn't believe the amount of times I'm told to go live in America. That is the default response of any Liberal/leftist looney who loses an argument against me. Given we are on the edge of a possible election with a very real reality of putting a Conservative government in power, I'm going to stay for one last kick at the can. But really, most of the males up here (at least the city dwellers) are emasculated. The worst is hearing them drone on about feminism whilst their wives nag at them and spend all their money.

ooh you could be onto something - can I exchange my money for par? LOL

hey anyone watch the CBC made for TV movie called H20?

I was going to give it a pass being CBC and all but it turned out to be a brilliant movie, the PM of Canada drowns in a canoe accident, but did he drown? his son, popular after delivering a rousing eulogy, wins the leadership convention of the Liberals and thusly becomes PM (only in Canada you say- selected not elected)to finish his father's term

but it turns out the golden haired son is actually conspiring with George Soros types, only unabashed capitalists to allow the US to take over Canada because the US is undergoing severe drought and needs Canada's water....

the funnier thing is the Americans don't seem to be in on the scam ( of course it is President Monroe, who is black and sort of resembles Colin Powell, LOL)

and the further irony is the French Canadian former Deputy PM and former separatist now avowed federalist is the one working at risk to expose the scam and save Canada

I loved it......the actress who played Jack Bauer's wife in Season Two played the agent working with the former separatist, she's good

I'm told to move to America as well. Do you think flying Old Glory up here could have anything to do with it?

:^)

Where are you from, Ashamed?
