You don't have to be religious to know this was wrong.
And moral relativism doesn't make much difference does it? I mean, I really don't care if my feeling this was wrong is subjective. I still want to kick their asses, relativism or no.
This crime had nothing to do with any of those things you listed. Some people are just bad. It's not new - its been around forever.
The muslim world suffers from almost none of the items you listed, yet its far from utopia. People still do bad things there.
