["He just didn't realize it, it just happened and before you know it and then like I say, I told him, 'What did you do, why did you do that?"' parent Sam Cordova told Fox 11 News. "I could see it in his eyes that it was starting to sink in, oh my gosh, what did I do?" Cordova said.]
This may be true, but there are VERY FEW 13 year olds who would hit another person on the head with a bat for any reason. Any thirteen year old who would do so has behavioral problems.

I think you are right on the mark. The kid who hit me had some serious issues. It didn't mitigate my condition, but it certainly explained a few things.

I think murder goes beyond "behavioral problems".

Discipline. While we don't know if he's just a bad apple or not, most children these days are never physically punished. One of the reasons it's good for a father to smack his son up side the head when he misbehaves is to remind him that there's consequences for his actions. If he picks on someone, he gets smacked by a parent. The result is a reminder that what he does hurts others, and how would he like to be on the receiving end?

I'm thinking in a few days we will find out this kid was on a school mandated drug program. Prozac etc. and was using an unregistered baseball bat.

Sorry, but I unfortunately believe there are quite a few that would erupt in anger and do that before they realize it. Teens have rampant hormones, are sometimes overzealous about sports, and super sensitive about insults; and in today's world, they are encouraged to emote their feelings and see much too much TV violence.
If this happened to my child, I would feel like doing the same to the kid, but I wouldn't.

I think what was sinkin in was "Oh dear I don't think I'm going to be able to get out of this one like I usually do".
