Katie Couric's attitude tomorrow morning should be interesting.

Chris Matthews has a look on his face like his car just broke down... Hehehehehehe!

How does Nostradamus apply to this? What did he prophecy?

The Jews were expelled from Spain by a decree of King Ferdinand (of and Isabella fame). The inquisition was another matter, entirely.

Ah, a Scotch-Irish Carolinian, the Holy Trinity of stubborn! :)

Add being an Aries to that, and you get the entire picture. :-)

I'll bet you Katie wears black like she did on Nov. 3 and for a week after Saddam was captured.

LOL. Yeah. Well, in my household, we're hoping that our beloved new Holy Father will be the

'Hammer of the Heretics'.

Will 'Zinger of  Rats' do?

I have another non-Catholic question. Is there a specific reference regarding the teachings and beliefs of the Catholic Church written for those of us who are not familar with church doctrine?

IOW, a "Catholic Doctrine for Dummies" LOL!

"Well, in my household, we're hoping that our beloved new Holy Father will be the Hammer of the Heretics."

As an outsider to the church, I find her position rather confounding. As another non-believer libertarian talk host said yesterday, why WOULDN'T a Catholic want someone who is a "hammer"? Don't you want the head of the church to be the uber-believer? It's pretty funny to me, hearing these talking heads talking about a "uniter" which to me says "appeaser of people who don't believe what we do".

So it's okay to express things like that? He just looks like what most protestants believe a pope should look like, IMO.

Yes, and Christ was crucified by Pontius Pilate. The "trial" by the Sanhedrin was another matter, entirely.

I didn't know too much about Ratzinger but judging from all the 'panzer pope' stuff flying I give a two thumbs up.

Thank you so much for the link to the Jerusalem Post:

As prefect of the Doctrine of the Faith, Ratzinger played an instrumental role in the Vatican's revolutionary reconciliation with the Jews under John Paul II. He personally prepared Memory and Reconciliation, the 2000 document outlining the church's historical "errors" in its treatment of Jews. And as president of the Pontifical Biblical Commission, Ratzinger oversaw the preparation of The Jewish People and Their Sacred Scriptures in the Christian Bible, a milestone theological explanation for the Jews' rejection of Jesus.

It was an amazing event -- seeing the smoke, hearing the bells, watching as thousands of people rushed as fast as they could to the Square to get a first glimpse.... I was 10 yrs old when JPII was elected and don't remember much about it, but it was inspiring to see so many people clamoring to see the new pope. God bless Benedict XVI and the Church!

He's extraordinary. We are blessed.
The Holy Spirit truly guided our Cardinals.
I am confident John Paul the Great is pleased.

Charitably speaking, MSM is "aflutter" --- in near meltdown over this choice. How they had hoped for an American liberal influence to reinforce their permissive and convoluted ideas; and barring that, a split in the Church.

I think you'll enjoy reading this article.

You should read the venom that is on there. They are of the world and they hate him because he is strong example of Christianity as they would any believer. They feel uncomfortable because the light shines in darkness and convicts them of their sin.

Dear pineconeland,

"Will 'Zinger of Rats' do?"

No, not really. A bunch of us here at FR are really hoping for a bit more discipline.
