I fully expect Dems to dig up rumor and innuendo about Mr. Bolton that includes sexual harassment. If folks think the concerns that were raised yesterday were the end of it, well, they're smoking crack. By the time the FRC takes up a vote again in Mid May, there will be even more dirt being made up/blown up.
I wonder, considering the fact that Bolton will prolly be subjected not only to more unproven bad acts and innuendo, if he would agree to letting Bush just name him during the next recess (a recess that makes his confirmation hearing be 2-3 weeks instead of sooner, BTW) as a recess appointment!!
I know that recess appointments are only for a fiscal year, or something, but if Bolton would agree, I think it would shove all this crap right back at the Dems and the Reps that have stalled this---if they had voted this out of committee yesterday, the DEMS might have had a chance to talk enough Reps into voting against him, to keep him out of the job completely!
Recess appointments may be the only way Bush gets ANY of his nominees through--shoot various Senators, Dem and Rep, are holding up 3 other cabinet level nominations right now.
I saw on another thread that Bush is going to nominate Peter Pace to take Joint Chiefs job when Gen. Myers retires. It says that a MARINE had never been named Joint Chiefs Chair before---
Like I said on that thread, I bet the dems could dig up thousands of Marines that would have to testify that Pace has yelled at them!!! LOL
After posting my last post to you, I went back and read part of the thread that I hadn't read--
I noticed that cyncooper provided a link to Frank Gaffney's column and HE suggested the same thing I did, recess appointment for Bolton---
Wouldn't that be delicious????
BTW, thanks for posting that article, cyn, it was really good---I hope Dubya reads it!!!
