Hi there,

I suspect that JustaCowgirl is right--these kids probably are from different schools. Also, most public schools don't have the students wear uniforms. Our kids go to a private Christian school(the two that aren't homeschooled), and they do (and don't mind). I love uniforms! Makes dressing for school so much easier!

Can you imagine this quote having come from Bill Clinton?

QUOTE OF THE DAY: Hillary told me on the way over to give you all her best. (Applause.) Generally what happens when I mention her name, most people say, well, I wish you'd have sent her. (Laughter.) She's doing great. She is a -- really a fine person; a great mother, great wife and a great First Lady for America. (Applause.) I'm a really lucky guy when she said, "yes," when I asked her to marry me.

Seriously?

LOL!

Psalm 138

    1 I will praise You with my whole heart;
       Before the gods I will sing praises to You.
       2I will worship toward Your holy temple,
       And praise Your name
       For Your lovingkindness and Your truth;
       For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.
       3In the day when I cried out, You answered me,
       And made me bold with strength in my soul.

       4All the kings of the earth shall praise You, O LORD,
       When they hear the words of Your mouth.
       5Yes, they shall sing of the ways of the LORD,
       For great is the glory of the LORD.

       6Though the LORD is on high,
       Yet He regards the lowly;
       But the proud He knows from afar.
       7Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me;
       You will stretch out Your hand
       Against the wrath of my enemies,
       And Your right hand will save me.
       8The LORD will perfect that which concerns me;
       Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever;
       Do not forsake the works of Your hands.

LOL! No way would I ever imagine, let alone want to hear, Bill Clinton say that about Hillary!

As I was looking at the wonderful pictures of President Bush with the kids, shaking hands with the boys, and his arm on the shoulder of the girls, and leaning his head down toward the girl, I was thinking how I'd feel if that was a female from my family and that was Bill Clinton.

This photo does not look right - he looks shorter than me!

It doesn't look right because the girl isn't wearing hose and pumps to meet the president. I grew up in DC. I know it can get hot and humid and the last thing you want to do is wear stockings, but sometimes protocol comes before pleasure. She could always take them off afterward.

Old fogies' line forms to the right...

Many of the kids here from 13-18 yrs old wear year around
short shorts and skimpy tops or tight low cut jeans to
show off their tattoos and butt crack. A handfull of
high schools have more proper atire.

There are many Catholic, Lutheran, Episcopal, and Baptist
parochial schools here that wear uniforms or strict dress
code. Also the private schools here in San Diego

I wish you'd have sent her.

If it were Bubba speaking of Hilary, he might not want to specify where everyone wishes he'd sent her.

Back where she originally came from, maybe? Could it be?

The school uniform thing has gone full circle in the UK. When I was at school it was sort of uniform you had to wear dark skirt, white blouse and school tie and peferably blue cardigan but it was not a certain type or make.

However recent times schools have regularized their uniforms the junior schools (5 - 11) the traditional grey pleated skirt or pinafore dress, white blouse and tie and usual a particular shade of colour cardigan. However senior schools have become more casual with sweatshirts and corded trousers allowed and in summer polo shirts but they are in the school colour have the school badge/name on them.

I think that the uniform is a good idea not only does it identify where the child belongs but also ensures that the children are all dressed the same whether they come from a well off or poor family.

As someone who only graduated from high school four years ago (and wrote at least 15 essays on school uniforms), I think uniforms are a horrible idea. I don't want to look like everyone else. And even with the uniforms, everyone still knows who's rich and who's popular. That's the nature of school, it's going to be there with or without the uniforms. Shoes, cars, accessories, bookbags...all of them let everyone know how rich or poor you are.

I also think uniforms are a good idea for kids. Don't know that I would have gone for it when I was in school, though. My sisters and I were lucky, we had a mom who was a fantastic seamstress and could make our clothes for us, and we were stylin'!

No I agree I suppose that was my comment about uniform if the children had a uniform from each school they would look smart and be suitably dressed to meet their President also it represents their school. I agree the girl in particular is not dressed properly to meet the leader of her country, a smart blouse and skirt would make all the difference along with less chunky shoes.
