And despite that Arnold was generously forgiving, campaigned for McClintock, and raised a large amount of campaign funds for him.
And it's kind of funny that the Arnold haters are asking about "hating" McClintock.
McClintock should work for a thinktank, he has some good ideas, but his uncompromising nature precludes him from being an effective anything in politics. He voted against his own bill, on car licence fees, because he didn't get everything.

I will have to disagree heartily with you. It is my firm belief that we absolutely needed Tom to stay in the Governor's race. Don't know if you noticed, but virtually all novice politicians (and Arnie was certainly a novice) make fatal mistakes that doom their candidacy. If that happened to Arnie, Tom was there to pick up the pieces. The LA Times certainly tried to do to Arnie what would have sunk any other GOP candidate. Tom absolutely refused to attack Arnie through the whole campaign, and he certainly could have gone that route.
Additionally, because of Tom, Arnie was forced to move to the right on at least some issues to capture conservative votes, something he never would have done if Tom had dropped out of the race. Tom is a principled conservative and a intellectual giant. I heard him speak yesterday afternoon at the CRA convention, and he was very inspiring.
