DNC Chairman Howard Dean Statement On the Retirement of Senator Jim Jeffords Washington, DC – Democratic National Committee Chairman, Governor Howard Dean, issued the following statement regarding the retirement of Vermont Senator Jim Jeffords:

"People all across America owe my good friend Jim Jeffords a debt of gratitude for dedicating his life to public service. An extraordinary man of great integrity, Jim's career exemplifies the very best in public life. From defending the environment and education, to his staunch support for the arts, to advocating for Americans with disabilities, Jim has distinguished himself as a courageous public servant.

"For more than 30 years, Jim has fought to do the right thing, standing against extremism. His work ethic, patriotism and commitment to serving the people of Vermont have made him a model to all of us who know him and have had the honor to work with him."

Dean praises Jeffords for "standing against extremism," so if Ben Nelson and Joe Lieberman left the Democratic Party and became independents, they could thank Howard Dean for the encouragement.

Remember when we were happy Dean won the chairmanship, and some columnists warned those of us on the right to be careful what we wished for, because he would be a fighter for the dems, etc. etc.?

I don't know about you folks, but I for one do NOT have a case of buyer's remorse. Keep going, Howie! :D

Dean is taking on the position of the center of gravity of the ULTRA-FAR-LEFT element of the liberal Dems. We know what their definition of EXTREMISM is. ANYTHING that is against their hard-left-socialist agenda, everything that is good and right for America, is RIGHT-WING-EXTREMISM. :-)

The good thing about this is that Dean, the ultimate whacked-out, STUPID mouthpiece for the Dems, IS DOING OUR JOB FOR US!!!! :-) Loving every minute of it. Keep it up Dean, YOU STUPID FOOL. The recorders are running for 2006 and 2008.

Lieberman is sane. Must be why Dean doesn't like him.
=======
That is EXACTLY WHY he was trashed in the Dem primaries. The ULTRA-hard left element did not want his rationale and Kennedy-type democrat attitude about America, anywhere near their ultra-rabid socialist power agenda.

They are ssooooo stupid. They might have won with Leiberman.

Lieberman is the PERFECT Exhibit A for the Dems. Here is the guy who had the vice-presidency "stolen" from him by W. But unlike Gore, he doesn't piss and moan and scream about it. He gets on with his job, and takes principled stands--you know, the kind everyone always says they want politicians to take. Do the Dems listen to his point of view and, even if they ultimately don't follow his path, politely say "Hey, he's one of us, we have a big tent"?

Nope.

Do they use their anger of the "stolen election" to help put half their ticket in office?

Nope.

They HATE him. Because he doesn't think like they do.

I am not saying it's betrayal not to follow his positions which the majority of the party disagrees with. I'm saying he is hated by them for not following their script, when at worst he should merely be disagreed with.

The Republicans do the same with McCain.

The article doesn't mention anything about Lieberman & Nelson. Where did you get that info?

My beef with McCain is all about his (and Feingold's) Voter Silencing Act (I mean Campaign Finance Reform Act).
