Look, I've been a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for 50 years. We speak where the Bible speaks and remain silent where the Bible is silent (when it comes to theological matters).

The reason I asked you "do Moslems and Jews worship the same god?" is because I'm trying to understand what you meant in #17 when you said "Allah is, in fact, God's Own name in Arbic."

OK, I get the "semantics-name part" of your statement.

But on the next level, does that mean that Allah and the God of the Jews are one in the same?

Or does it mean there are 2 different beings being called by the same name?

"I've been a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for 50 years."

I don't know many members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)... may I ask you this question?

What does your denomination think of the Gay, Lesbian and Affirming Disciples Alliance, Inc.?

Is the homosexual movement in your denomination accepted, or is it creating problems like it is for the Episcopalians and Methodists?

I understand their rallying cry is "Our nothing is better than their something!"

Understanding and answering the "religious far right" that propelled President Bush's re-election is key to preventing a "theocracy" from governing the nation, speakers argued at a weekend conference.

This is interesting.

Main Entry: the·oc·ra·cy
Pronunciation: thE-'ä-kr&-sE
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural -cies
Etymology: Greek theokratia, from the- + -kratia -cracy
1 : government of a state by immediate divine guidance or by officials who are regarded as divinely guided
2 : a state governed by a theocracy

What are they afraid of. They don't believe in God. How can the leader of our country be divinly inspired?

"Allah" may mean "God" in Arabic, but by no means is the god of Islam the same as Jehovah God of Christianity.

The very fact of the Islamic denial of Christ's divinity is all the evidence needed to shatter any illusion that Muslims and Christians worship the same god. Christ Himself instructs us to "question the spirits"; if one denies that Christ is God , then he is not of God. This commandment, given by Jesus Christ, comes from the Bible, not the koran.

This article was an eye-opener for me in more than one respect: The commonality of God-hating, Christ-rejecting humanists and Islomafacists; the humanist obsession to shut Christ up by exiling the people who worship Him to the farthest periphery of American political and social existence, and the Islamics to shut Christ up by erasing them from the face of the earth.

I now understand where the sympathy of the Democrat party for Islamic terrorism comes from.

"Theocracy" is the straw man that the left brings up whenever Christians start stating their opinion in the public square. Most leftists don't know what a theocracy even is, much less who is actually advocating one.

The psychotic anti-American left just can't seem to grasp that it is God-fearing patriots who are fighting and winning the war on terror, while treacherous ACLU scum are doing all they can to protect terrorists from the government.

The stupid left just can't shake its Marxist "religion is the opiate of the masses" dementia.

They want the war on terror to be a war on all religious people. They had better start to realize that if they keep calling for a holy war with Christianity in America, then that's exactly what they are going to get!

The gays in the ranks of the ministers the DOC draws on are a problem. Our local congregation (which is unaccountably very large for a DOC operation) had a brassy lesbian move in as an associate minister, and next thing you know her and some of her girlfriends were trying to usher the heterosexual minister and his wife out the door.

As far as the so-called Minister General and his staff is concerned, it's not a Biblically ordained position, so he's nothing to any serious Christian ~ and the last couple of guys in there are definitely soft on gays. It may be necessary to disestablish the church hierarchy to ferret them all out.

If you think back a bit you will realize that the Reverend Jim Jones (Guyana, grape coolaid) was a pretty heterosexual guy. The gays ultimately don't have a chance in that crowd.

The answer depends on what you are trying to question.

So, is the "El" God of the Old Testament the same as the "Jehovah" God of the Old Testament, or are they different gods?

Hmmmm, so many questions so little time.

The clueless trying to understand is like questioning if there's a rock to big for God to lift!

They are still asking themselves, "Which came first?
God or the rock?"

Secular humanists and leftist activists convened here over the weekend to strategize how to counter what they contend is a growing political threat from Christian conservatives.

They sure are a paranoid bunch of folks, aren't they?

Jesus used the word "Abba."

We won votes, they counted chads.

I'll admit that it took an attack on our soil by terrorists and the threat of same-sex marriage by coup in courts and city halls, when I'd rather it had been in reaction to abortion and the restriction of the free exercise clause.

But the fact is that the Republicans won the votes and we do not have to let the minority rule. We have heard them for 5 looong years. We continue to hear them.

True enough. But notice he didn't say "GOD" nor "JEHOVAH".

"Abba" can also be translated as "flowing water" or "living water". "Abu" in Arabic is a cognate word with similar meanings, and Mc, Mac, O' and Bo, in Gaelic, are cognate.

To really understand the word you have to look at the context, and noting that Jesus also spoke of "living waters" we might well reevaluate the entire message in any text where He is quoted as using "Abba".
