So basically, we have an entirely made-up story, likely designed to get people in Afghanistan inflamed, and intended to try and make our military and the Bush administration look bad.

And now Newsweek simply says "oops," and offers a weak apology, after a number of individuals have been killed in the rioting in Afghanistan, and the haters of democracy have even more fodder for their hatred of the United States!?!

My bet is that they knew the report was bogus all along. But they also knew that, even if they had to retract the story, the retraction would garner much less attention than the original story.

That's infuriating.

As I read your words, I get angry all over again, and think of all the damage they have done and really wonder does not one of these yahoo's have a friend, son, daughter in the military?

They put at risk our military and hard working American's. I thought I was angry about the Rather incident for me this trumps that and well somebody's head needs to roll.

We should write, we should demand, we should have a voices heard this is NO way to run a news desk.
