Face it, the Jedi are faux Zen Buddhist martial arts masters.

Nah, Palpatine is Karl Rove ^_^ (A Japanese style smiley, since Lucas and I share an admiration for Kurosawa.)

Obi-Wan's response is likely to surface as a bumper sticker during the next election campaign: "Only a Sith thinks in absolutes."

Finally, a worthy replacement for the decades old grand bumper sticker poltical tour de force - "Nuclear bombs kill children and other living things."

Right now some hippy's got a blank bumper and a woody.

the films reveal the cyclical nature of history, which seems to repeat itself even as it moves forward.

Sometimes Republicans win, but eventually they’ll leave office and the children will be able to breath and dream again.

Is that too long for a bumper sticker?

It's sitting at 83% on RottenTomatoes right now, which is a good deal higher than PHANTOM MENACE and CLONES managed. The early buzz is good so far, but...wow. This was unexpected.

I'm sure it's better than those films. Maybe better than RETURN OF THE JEDI. Better than STAR WARS? Well, I guess we'll find out in a few days.

As the Bush angle, the critics need to calm themselves. Lucas wrote up the script outline for these three prequel movies back in the 1970's. If they were inspired by anything in American politics, Lucas noted, it was Watergate and Vietnam.

It is odd that when thinking of Bush, the left always sees matters in terms of good and evil. Ther irony of leftward thought, what the pope calls relativism.

Better than Star Wars? I think not. But very good? Yep. As another of the lucky souls to have already seen it, I agree it's a thoroughly enjoyable flick.

I do wonder about the eagerness of some critics to view it as an anti-Bush film. I dunno whether it is or not, and don't much care. But I can't help thinking that a lot of Bush-haters are reading rather more into it than is there. Maybe not.

Either way, I don't care. I had a great time, and so will you. I hope to see it again on opening day, where I will stand in line and tease people with hints of the delights to come....

Those are no doubt early press screenings.

I think most critics have seen Episode III by now. Some are holding their reviews until opening day.

"Only a Sith thinks in absolutes."

Ummm... isn't the above statement an "absolute"?

Did you think it was better than Return of the Jedi?

I'm getting the impression it ranks a respectable third place out of all six films.

If so, I can live with that. EMPIRE and STAR WARS are about as high a standard as exists in fantasy film-making.

They are? I've read a ton and they've all been pretty positive saying this one is right up there with Ep V and Ep IV.

"Only a Sith thinks in absolutes."

Looks like I've found a portrait of one of the founding fathers then.

There's a spectrum.

You have A.O. Scott on end saying it's better than Star Wars and as good as EMPIRE. A few others have been similarly effusive.

Others are positive but more guarded in varying degrees.

But everyone agrees it's better than PHANTOM MENACE and ATTACK OF THE CLONES.

Have you ever noticed that the Sith don't lie.

Obi-won, are you saying that the absolutely only the Sith deal in absolutes?
