Did you really do all this research yourself? It must have taken months. Or can you cite the source who compiled all this?
I would like to use this in tomorrows issue of Christian-news-in-maine.com would that be alright?
Thanks
Jake
Great post! Thanks for compiling this list. Very similar to the list of dem. quotes regarding Iraq, made pre-2003.
the sources are listed.
Well, knock me over with a feather. So are the Democrats still calling for an up or down vote on "everyone who is nominated?" (Hee hee hee)
Wow! Great list. Hopefully, NRO, Drudge or Rush picks up on it.
The sources are listed, but the researchers are anonymous. Someone should get som credit for this.
Not to mention it should be read by Rush.
I didn't do the research; other freepers did.
We should call the offending Senators and remind them of their OWN words!
Feel free to use the list; other Freepers did the hard work and found the quotes.
I'm just back from the beach and other freepers did the research; not me.
Bookmarked
But you must understand, those nominees were in the 'mainstream' and should not be filibustered. Bush's nominees are evil conservatives bent on restoring the Constitution we are trying so hard to kill (since it is a 'living, breathing document', and we failed to abort it in 1787), so they are out of the 'mainstream' that we get to define. /Dingy Harry Reid mode off
LOL.
Isn't it amazing how the conservatives are always out of the mainstream but we control all branches of government?
Can't wait for the MSM to be responsible and accurately depict the historical quotes on this issue.....
I should probably pack a lunch....
I guess it doesn't "fit" their agenda, what other explanation could there be?????
After all they're very good at throwing Republican quotes back in their faces.
Good job, why doesn't Russert bring these statements up on the video tape. I'm sure some of them have to recorded somewhere.
FYI, I emailed NRO, Drudge and Fox News with the list.
We need to send the list of quotes to FNC, RUsh, etc.
I've just drafted a letter to my local newspaper which has an opening sentence and then proceeds to list the quotes.
The average American will "get" it.
Oh, thank you so much!
I just got back from the beach and haven't done anything on this matter but will make up for it today and tomorrow.
Russert wouldn't have used those quotes, even if he had them. It doesn't fit with his agenda.
AND...very similar to the list of demon quotes regarding the need to fix sociable security, including personal accounts, pre-2001.

Now where have I seen those quotes before???
Just joking Peach....I'm glad these quotes are getting more play. };O)
Nice. I'm sure the Sunday TV talk shows will be asking the Demorats to explain these quotes... This is a great example of how the "MSM" ill serves the public. I mean, shouldn't they have been beating the Demorats with this stuff long ago? And what about the Republicans? Why aren't they researching this stuff and throwing it in the faces of the Demorats?
I see by the dates their opinion on this issue depends on who is in the White House.
As to why OUR party isn't using these quotes EVERY SINGLE time they stand up to speak and sending out e-mails to Republicans across the country and writing letters to the editors is a mystery to me as well.
Republicans have never had a very strong spine, imo.
WOW! This is a smoking M-16 if I ever saw one!
Is that your web page??
If yes, good job, Oxen!
I've tried to make it clear that I didn't do the research, but think the list should be put on every single thread about this matter.
I know that's considered spamming, and frowned upon, but so many people are busy and only read one or two threads about this matter.
Bless you, I would add Hannity to that list, he'll definitely make good use of such a list.
If "reminded" of his quote above, I wonder who Reid would explain his most recent "spewage":
WASHINGTON (AP) - Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid said Thursday that President Bush and Republican senators are trying to "rewrite the Constitution and reinvent reality" in their push to confirm controversial judicial nominees.
"The Senate is not a rubber stamp for the executive branch," Reid said. "Rather, we're the one institution where the minority has a voice and the ability to check the power of the majority. Today, in the face of President Bush's power grab, that's more important than ever."
Republicans are threatening to eliminate the Democrats' ability to use filibusters to block Bush's judicial picks, beginning with federal appeals court nominee Priscilla Owen.
Reid says that the Constitution does not require that judicial nominees get confirmation votes, allowing the minority to block them. Bush and other Republicans who argue otherwise "rewrite the Constitution and reinvent reality," he said.
Great point! I always remind my lib friends of FDR's take on privitizing SS...makes 'em squirm!
The democrats lie here and there. They say one thing today. Another tomorrow. Same subject, different answer. The answer is just to fit their liberal, leftist, communist agenda.
The sorry point to this all, is that so many Americans believe these people, trust these people, all in the name of free handouts. Sad. Extremely sad what the state of this nation has become. America is not even close to what it was when founded. Going down more every day.
oops... lisdexia kicked in there: If "reminded" of his quote above, I wonder HOW Reid...
Carry on...
I would argue that Republicans have control of the Executive branch, a tenuous control of the Legislative branch, and is a minority voice in the Judicial branch. But I would not suggest that conservatives have much of a voice in any of the three branches.
We live in a conservative area and our paper is very happy to get letters to publish.
I know it's more difficult for freepers to get through to their biased editors in their area, but we have to try.
Thought it would be a good idea to put them all together.
Thanks for that link!
I agree with you. 100%.
I don't know the answer to that question.
I hadn't known you had a blog, Oxen. What a great site!
President Bush ought to call a press conference and READ THIS LIST OFF in front of ALL the Media!
can someone check a few of these quotes? the Congressional Record is online and searchable. I tried to check a couple and my browser won't open the text. But some of the page numbers appear in discussion that don't seem to be about judges.
I just happened on that thread when I did a search for filibuster. I saw the fourth one down and just said "HHHMMMMMMM".

Here's a bit more:

I would have missed that had you not linked it here and hope you are able to link it to other threads as well.
I agree with you!
Most of those quotes give the date and where the statement can be found.
