when a doctor is sued so is EVERY doctor listed in the chart....the doctor who read the x-ray of the arm when the patient ended up dying of toe surgery--sued, the doctor who did the initial exam in the ER---sued, the doctor who ordered the Tylenol one night while he/she was on call---sued
lawyers go through the patient's chart and list every single doctor in there...even ones who had nothing to do with the case
to try and pretend that litigation has nothing to do with this is laughable

ones who had nothing to do with the case If a doctor's name
is on the chart, then he did
something in the case.
But, in general,
in any other context
this activity
would be accepted
(or even celebrated!)
as how the "market"
and legal system
compels a loose profession
to clean up its act.
But the doctors don't
turn on each other, they blame
laws and the "system."
