Oh, I'll be a nasty M-I-L, Deb. You can count on it! ;o)
Deb, thanks for posting this. I had not seen it. This sounds like a Bush vendetta from McCain
"We encourage the Executive branch of government to consult with members of the Senate, both Democratic and Republican, prior to submitting a judicial nomination to the Senate for consideration."
Of course, I could be all washed up. :)
Things should settle in a few weeks, and my sanity will return................or did I ever have it in the first place??
Former US President George Bush (L) with former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev after a speech at the State Foreign Affairs University in Moscow. Bush invited Gorbachev to go skydiving.
"You have to have goals in life, and this is one," Bush told a group of around 300 students at a Moscow foreign relations institute, with Gorbachev by his side. Gesturing toward the last Soviet leader, Bush added: "I today gave him a formal invitation to join me on the next parachute jump."
But Gorbachev's answer, Bush said, was "nyet, nyet, nyet."
Bush, the father of the current US president, told the students that he had been "deeply touched" when Gorbachev showed up on a previous parachute jump made by Bush and greeted him as he floated to the ground.
"He was there when I landed, with a nice bouquet of flowers and a bottle of vodka -- and life was pretty good," Bush said, to knowing chuckles from the students. "I vowed to make my fifth" parachute jump "on my 85th" in 2009.
The elder Bush made international headlines when he made a tandem parachute jump eight years ago on his 73rd birthday. He has since made several others, most recently last year on his 80th birthday.
Bush hailed Gorbachev as a man to whom history would be "exceptionally kind" for his role in bringing down the Iron Curtain that divided eastern and western Europe until the Soviet Union's 1991 collapse.
Gorbachev, "more than any single individual deserves credit -- I mean it from the bottom of my heart," Bush said at the meeting at Moscow's State Institute of International Relations.
Former US President George Bush shows the medal he received from Russian President Vladimir Putin to commemorate his service as a US Navy pilot in World War II
MOSCOW (AFP) - Russia's President Vladimir Putin awarded former US president George Bush with a medal commemorating his service as a US Navy pilot in World War II in a Kremlin ceremony.
"I know that you not only took part in the war. I know too the tragic history of your participation in it, with the plane you were flying being hit," Putin said.
Bush thanked the Russian leader and mentioned that his son, US President George W. Bush, had told him of his "outstanding" visit to Moscow for the May 9 ceremonies marking the 60th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany.
However, Bush Senior said: "he did not like some of the criticism he read later on."
Russia's media took a critical look at Bush's swing through Latvia, Russia and Georgia. One daily, Nezavisimaya Gazyeta, remarked: "He was almost anti-Russian in Riga, pro-Russian in Moscow and defender of Georgia against Russian manipulation in Tbilisi."
Hi! Glad you made it after all. Sorry you had 'puter problems--did ya watch the "24" finale while you were off-line? It was great--but I'll miss it now that it's over.
Thanks for posting such a great Dose. Love the pictures of Laura.
We are having a very tough time here. Our dog, Buddy, is doing very poorly. Have had him at the Vets 5 times since Wednesday. More tests on Wednesday. The Vet is trying to let us down very gracefully I fear.
Buddy has been with us for almost 11 years. A precious, beautiful American dog - mixed breed - like all of us.
I didn't realize it would be this hard....
Good evening Tommy
Oh Baseballmom, I know how hard that is. Just keep in mind how much joy your dog Buddy brought you and how much love you gave your dog Buddy and rest easy knowing your dog and you will meet again in Heaven
Congratulations to your family great to hear from you
"Scarborough's got it down: THIS WAS MCCAIN'S PRESIDENTIAL MOVE .. ALL ABOUT HIM! He knows Frist will be running in '08, and he's not about to give that evangelical a starring role in this. Premises: he knows he doesn't have the evangelical vote anyway, so he's not lost anything with them .. but as Scarborough reminds us: Paul Simon retired (d) from IL once said, "Sometimes when you lose .. you win." And Scarborough is confident that Frist HAS(sic-corrected error:not) BEEN ASSURED of the evangelical vote for 2008 ...and that's the segment that will pick the Republican candidate.
I despise McAintIgreat .. and his meglomania! Imagine how Frist feels .. punched in the gut.

"Over the course of the past four years, the blocking of judicial nominees in the Senate has escalated to an unprecedented level. Last Congress, ten of my appeals court nominees were filibustered. Each of these highly qualified nominees enjoyed the bipartisan support of a majority of Senators. Each would have been confirmed if given a simple up-or-down vote. Each deserved a simple up-or-down vote by the entire Senate.
I urge the Senate to put aside the partisan practices of the past and work together to ensure that all nominees are treated fairly and that all Americans receive timely justice in our Federal courts." -- President George W. Bush -May 9, 2005
Good night everyone, I'm falling asleep here
This family of animal lovers is sending prayers your way for Buddy and all of your family. We are nearing this stage with one of our own.
"I think this is not a bad outcome"
I agree . . . we'll get most of what we want relative to our appellate court nominees and, should the Democrat '7' renege on their 'agreement', still have the constitutional option available for the Supreme Court nominee(s)'!
However, I do believe these 14 meglomaniacs will attempt to usurp control over the President's domestic agenda (e.g., social security, energy, and so on) . . . In some ways, this could also be a blessing (could help refocus some of the political heat currently focused almost solely on the President) . . . the devil will be in the details of course!
It looks to me like they were trying to undermine the power of the President. In fact, it looks more like a power grab than a compromise. Now we have 14 senators deciding the outcome of nomination? I hope this is enough to get a good opponate for these 7 RINOS and defeat them at the ballot box.
My heart goes out to you I lost my greyhound Gizzy in January and it is hard. Wolfstar also lost her dog recently please keep me advised what happens if you want to chat over FRmail please feel free to do so.
Congratulations, OWF!! Just dying to see pictures of the happy event .. SO glad it went well .. ok, be honest: how many Kleenex???
Good night my friend will not be far behind you once again thanks for your help tonight.
I heard Hugh Hewitt report this afternoon that one of the reporters on Fox(can't remember his name)said,"The democrats have blinked."
