Red State.org has an excellent post outlining why the Republicans are the winners with this deal.

Check it out. It makes a lot of sense to me.

I've withheld comment to this point on this matter. I agree the Repubs did win the battle, however, they did have a total victory at hand if it were not for the likes of McCain.

True, but RINOs ARE still part of the political landscape - it is the one item that Conservative Republicans still can't seem to get a handle on. For those of us living in these areas, we can't ever get that out of our head, though.

There is no "total victory" available until they lose a few more numbers. Remember, though: a few years ago, it took only one Jumpin'Jim to give the Demodogs CONTROL of the Senate - now it takes a compromise with six to even get their concerns on the table. The train is still moving in the right direction if we don't get too crazy about this.
