Your memory IS correct and Kasich was one of the major players that engineered not only the balanced budgets of the 90's but the economic success we experienced during that timeperiod.

What always amazes me is a Pubbie like Kasich doing good by the country, even though a Dem was President......Klintoon, The Scumbag, taking credit and claiming he was responsible for all of it.........

.......Now we have Dems doing everything they can to sabotage the economy, screwing the American people, and blaming Bush for the ills.

Kasich was the Chair of the House Budget Committee under Newt Gingrich following the 1994 elections and led the budget battles which brought us close to balance.

He got a lot of air time, and was impressive for how hard he worked to get the budget under control. It was a real loss when he quit Congress. It would be good to have him back as senator. DeWine appears to have a terminal case of Beltway Fever, thus ruining him for further useful service to the nation.
