Texas Gov. Rick Perry rejected a request by a Hispanic state senator to block plans by Minuteman Project volunteers to begin border patrols in October, saying no elected official has the authority to prevent "law-abiding citizens from traveling to, from or within this state." In response to a resolution authored by State Sen. Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa and signed by 10 others, Mr. Perry said that although he is opposed to civilian volunteers patrolling the Texas border, he would not block their pending vigil, telling the senators that policy changes were needed to deal with the problem. "I fully understand and can appreciate the frustration that many Texans and others across the nation have with illegal immigration, its potential impact on our national security and the unacceptable burden it is placing on taxpayers, and state and local criminal-justice, education and health care systems," Mr. Perry said in a statement.

No "allow" to it. The minutemen can be on public land if they want and private land with permission.
Rock and Roll!!!....Keep those Illegals Roll'in...RAWHIDE!!!!
Oh, *allow* my arse.
He can't stop it and he knows it.
Like all the other politiwhores, he's just trying to save face now that he realizes that Americans are SICK and TIRED of government ignoring the border, giving illegals a pass, and then stealing money from the LEGAL citizens to support them!
If they really cared, they would have listened 30 or 40 years ago instead of waiting until the situation reached critical mass.
Texans are a poised, proud but peacefull folk that also happened to be well armed.
As long as they are operating from Private Property, with permission, then they can legally participate in the defense of that property under Texas Law. The legal ramifications are serious for those that may engage in violence. However, if it be drug smugglers or otherwise that provoke violence with the Texans at their border, I say woe to the fool that brings malintent to the persons or property of a proudly armed Texan.
Yee-haw! Go peacefully GET EM!
Perry was just stating your point by turning down a request by 10 dems to "not allow" the Minute Men to patrol the border. Perry just stated they can do whatever they want.
Same thing! 'If the people lead, the leaders will follow!'
Now, if only the former Governor of Texas who occupies the White House would make the same declaration publicly and act on it, it would go a long way in improving his presidential stature.
"policy changes were needed to deal with the problem"
Glad he's not going to deny the Minutemen their rights as US citizens but the above statement could be interpreted two different ways. Hope it's the RIGHT way.
Yes, Hon. I know.
My point was:
1) The media/Dem erroneous use of the word 'allow' like Perry is some kind of King and we require his PERMISSION to protect our country
2)Perry states he is opposed to civilian volunteers patrolling the Texas border.
3) He obviously KNOWS it's a problem that is detrimental to our country, yet WON'T do anything about the border himself.
