I (as well as others) have noticed that recently there are a lot more stories having to do with child abuse or child deaths. I am just trying to understand why

News is news, we can't control it.

You can't understand why the stories are posted, or why the events occur? Why are any stories posted within?

If different stories with the same theme, if you will, are happening more often...why not present it? What is wrong with that? Why shouldn't the world at large be made aware?

Rather than have me defend my posting of a news item , why not tell me why you think it should NOT be posted?

I come across lots of stories about infants, babies, toddlers on my google searches that are really horrific like this story. Usually what has been done to them has been done by a family member--parent mostly or the boyfriend. Just do a google search under newborn, baby, etc. and you will pull up something everyday. I've posted a few horrible stories and will probably post more in the future, but mostly I try to post the ones that are general interest or have a positive theme. That being said, there's no reason for you to be taken to task for posting this story. It's a legitimate news item and it's worth discussion just like any other story on FR.

First of all, chill.

Second, I don't think one can make the arguement that child abuse/death stories are more frequent than they were, say, five years ago. It's just that they are appearing more on FR.

Is it morbid fascination? Is it a concern over the downward spiral of our culture? Is it that five years ago, FR was primarily a political site and now it is more than that? Is it a desire to post and these type of stories are "interesting". I am just trying to understand.
