Why was it that when I started reading this I knew it would be Kinepack or Kinesticks.

The stuff comes as two parts that are extrmely stable before being mixed. I don't know if UPS still has the same policy, but they didn't consider it an explosive when it wasn't mixed and you could ship it UPS without even a hazardous materials charge.

Even once it's mixed, you aren't going to set it off with a fuse, you're going to need a blasting cap. It's a issue of state law, but it's not hard to get kinesticks in a lot of states. Getting blasting caps is a more serious issue, expecially due to requirements on how they must be stored if they aren't used the same day.

Mc Veigh didn't use Kinesticks for his bomb in Oaklahoma City. The amount he would need would be impractical, when good old dissel and fertalizer was cheaper and easir to get in quantity.

Kinesticks are used a lot by farmers to remove stumps.

The AP states that the government isn't going to file charges against Moore. I suspect it's because no law was broken when he sold the Kinesticks.

Mc Veigh was a monster and the world is better off without him. However this sounds like another effort by the press to scare people about "explosives" that are used commonly for both commercial and non-commercial uses because of the actions of a couple people.
