I would go even further,
1.European size ice surface. (todays players are too fast and too fit for yesterdays ice rink surface)
2.No helmets ( all boarding checks from behind,even a push,equals automatic penalty)
3.Automatic icing.
4.Goaltender pad sizing reduction.
4.Wooden sticks,no composite fancy smancy stuff.
5.Zero tolerance for hooking and holding.
I don't understand the opposition to helmets.

Won't stop headlong slides into the boards from accidental trips. I know what you're after. I went to Flyers games in the 60's when the only guys who wore helmets were named Jean Guy something or other.

add fighting to that. the reason sticks are high is because of helmets, and you cant beat the hell out of the guy who just gave you a stick to you face. 2 min minor, 5 if its ugly. Maybe a game if you kill em....Get back to a gentlemens game.
