I have managed to amass a nice estate for my five children. Only my second wife gets any of it. It includes four homes, and four businesses, in four states. That flies in the face of their claims that it despoils your being, and makes you worthless. That was where I began...

Of course, they will claim I am the exception. I can introduce them to many of my friends, with similarly sucessful pasts. They were frequent users of the demon weed, as well.

Well, this business of saying that smoker's are always sick and worthless and useless is a down right lie!

I worked with an obese man who never smoked.  He was off sick more times then I can remember.  I was never off sick.  And I smoke.

And I am not an exception either.  All of my family smoked.  They live and lived long lives.  Were very productive.

My past and present friends as well.  What garbage the anti's are spewing.  It's enough to make your head spin.

You do realize that if A is bad and B is bad. A is still bad?

The questions is, if I lived in an apartment with a bunch of [heavily overweight women], can I get them kicked out of building?

Easy answer: No. Why not? If photons diffused in the way that odor molecules do, you might have a point. But they don't, so you don't.

If you're in your apartment, you're not able to see the obese women who offend your eyesight. Hence their presence in their own apartments has no physical impact on you in your apartment. On the other hand, if I'm in my apartment and a smoker lives in a nearby apartment, the odor of that person's smoke will diffuse into my apartment quite pervasively, making it impossible for me to avoid the smell as long as the smoking goes on (which is pretty much as long as the person is home and awake).

OK. They can stay. They just aren't allowed in the elevator or in the lobby.

If they want to enter or exit the building they will have to use the fire escape.

That will have the added benefit of helping them lose weight. :-)

You've solved the problem.

I haven't said anything because on one hand it seems stupid, the guy is standing on his patio, minding his business.

It's just the principle of the thing - do you get to blow smoke around everywhere, even where others don't want it, or do I have the right to enjoy the air in my own apartment w/o running around to shut the windows?

ps - With all that barbeque smoke, you were probably blue in the face from the fumes. : )

To tell you the truth the barbecue smoke made me salivate----it always smelled enticing. I closed the windows so it wouldn't get all through the house. They were a nice couple and I never would have even considered saying anything.

You live close to people you have to put up with inconveniences---or you move to the country.
