This is becoming really spooky. This article reminds of any number that appeared in the 1970-71 time frame using selective reporting from US foces in VN to prove that the armed forces knew that the war was a hopeless endeavor. Clever, well written, defeatist propaganda such as this needs to be confronted by US forces as it is eventually very destructive to domestic support at the decsionmaker level in the US.

Not long ago I saw some leftist propaganda piece (from The Guardian?) about the implications of the United States fighting a war for oil -- and having already lost it. The left is talking up "peak oil", the notion that world oil production has already reached its peak while world oil demand is still increasing. I suspect this is even more dangerous propaganda, especially in Europe and the Middle East.
But there is a signal difference between the Vietnam war and the present war: the draft. I am old enough (barely) to remember the incredible anger levels in this country circa 1969-1970. We're not in that situation now.
