I am not suggesting "we'd" make the first strike...I am suggesting China would use nuclear weapons in a "hypothetical but plausible" war for TAIWAN.

I am, also, suggesting in such a hypothetical war China would play the numbers and be willing to accept nuclear retaliation from the U.S., as long as their ultimate goal of taking TAIWAN and perpetuating the MOAIST state (in whatever surviving form) could be achieved. And if they attacked TAIWAN, China would certainly beleive it could survive...afer all Sun Tzu was Chinese, they haven't forgotten his doctrine, neither have we.

I don't think the Chinese wish to be the "Utopian" society that leads the rest of the world out of a nuclear holocaust, but I do believe, and rightly, so...they feel TAIWAN as a threat to their soveriegnty, which they may be willing to go to war for (and use nukes to achieve their ends). A point you have neglected to address.

Thanks.

To: in hoc signo vinces

It would not be in the best interests of the US to defend Taiwan.
