Thank you. Please be seated. Good evening. I am pleased to visit Fort Bragg, home of the Airborne and Special Operations Forces. It is an honor to speak before you tonight. My greatest responsibility as president is to protect the American people, and that is your calling as well. I thank you for your service, your courage and your sacrifice. I thank your families, who support you in your vital work. The soldiers and families of Fort Bragg have contributed mightily to our efforts to secure our country and promote peace. America is grateful and so is your commander in chief.

Special note to John Kerry - the root word of "deadline" is DEAD!

I thought he did a great job!

Then as I watched the post-speech analysis, they tore the president a new ahole, everything from the perceived coolness of the troops to his "failure to level" with Americans. Then they had Joe Biden on. Then I turned it off.

Pres. Bush indeed did a great job. I watched Fox afterwards, and they had that weenie Wesley Clark on, and even he said it was a great speech, although of course he had to give his "we're training the terrorists in Iraq" whine. The Fox people made it clear that the troops were instructed not to applaud or cheer at any point, but the excitement got the better of them when Pres. Bush said we will not quit and will stay until the job is done. And then Hannity & Colmes had McCain on, and he praised the Pres's speech, too. Oh, no; Charlie "The Fool" Rangle is on now. Got to turn it off.

Rofl... Hannity completely owned that fool Rangle at the end where he said "next time maybe you'll come here with some evidence...." and then cut him off. :)

Okay, NOW I'm sorry I turned it off before I heard that, but I really can't stand Rangle's mindless blather.

Despite other disagreements with some of President BUsh's other policies (CFR, Medicare, expanding NAFTA, etc.), this was a great and inspiring speech. And spot on as regards the conflict with the terrorists abroad.
America and our friends are in a conflict that demands much of us. It demands the courage of our fighting men and women, it demands the steadfastness of our allies and it demands the perseverance of our citizens. We accept these burdens because we know what is at stake. We fight today because Iraq now carries the hope of freedom in a vital region of the world, and the rise of democracy will be the ultimate triumph over radicalism and terror. And we fight today because terrorists want to attack our country and kill our citizens, and Iraq is where they are making their stand. So we will fight them there, we will fight them across the world and we will stay in the fight until the fight is won.

America has done difficult work before. From our desperate fight for independence, to the darkest days of a Civil War, to the hard-fought battles against tyranny in the 20th century, there were many chances to lose our heart, our nerve or our way. But Americans have always held firm, because we have always believed in certain truths. We know that if evil is not confronted, it gains in strength and audacity and returns to strike us again. We know that when the work is hard, the proper response is not retreat, it is courage. And we know that this great ideal of human freedom entrusted to us in a special way and that the ideal of liberty is worth defending.
I, for one, want to see that same resolve applied to our own borders for the exact same reasons. I want to see it applied to our growing confrontation with the Communist Chinese. To this point, I do not believe the same level of resolve has applied in those places...and, IMHO, it needs to.

he sucked, reminds me of his old man. Wants the term to end. He is a first class puss with no ability to communicate. Fighting a politically correct war is absurd. He needs to eradicate the opposition and get our guys out.

I've been a regular DU watcher... and a poster on other boards, but I've never posted here before. I'm tired of them jumping all over these polls!
