The President should have made the connection between the FIRST WTC bombing and Iraq. Repeated the fact that Iraq was on the list of Terrorist sponsoring nations for years. And gone on to say...." So was Syria, which is why we started bombing them 5 minutes ago."

I've said it before and I'll say it again, we are seeing the consequences for President Bush's failure in the weeks after 9/11. IMHO he should have called for a Congressional Declaration of War that put into debate and codefied by Declaration who we were fighting, what the scope of this war would be. If we were fighting terror and those states that sponsor them, that could have been done, lisitng the states and organizations. If that had been done, this debate about Iraq and anything future with Iran, Syria, etc. would be moot. The nation could have been unifed and the course of action made much clearer to the American people. But, now, to many, this all seems like a make it up as you go along, with the UN mess of 2002 and 2003, the WMD issues, etc. We are a nation divided when it should not have ever been that way. Firm action in the days and weeks after 9/11 could have settled all of this, but it was not taken.
