The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

I thought it was interesting that this period managed to time itself with
everything else that has been discussed recently. It would seem to me
that a hit against America, American Jews (NYC), or the state of Israel
during this time period would fit well into several symbolic
events/anniversaries.<<<

ATF's National Response Team Activated to Austin, TX Apartment Fires

AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 3 -- The National Response Team (NRT) of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) along with ATF Special Agents from the Austin Field Office have been activated to assist the Austin Fire Department in the investigation of two fires at the Austin Parke Apartments and the Chevy Chase Apartments.

Donnie Carter, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of ATF in Houston, Texas, said, "Damage to the apartments is estimated at approximately 2.5 million dollars. The ATF is assisting the Austin Fire Department in this joint investigation."

In 1978, ATF developed the NRT to assist federal, state, and local investigators in meeting the challenges faced at the scenes of significant arson and explosives incidents. The NRT consists of four teams organized geographically to cover the United States. Each team can respond within 24 hours to assist state and local law enforcement/fire service personnel in onsite investigations.

In addition to investigating hundreds of large fire scenes, the NRT has also been activated to scenes such as the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, the Oklahoma City Federal Building bombing and the 9/11 Pentagon crash site, as well as explosions at explosives and ammunition manufacturing plants, legal fireworks factories and illegal explosive device manufacturing operations.

The teams are each composed of veteran special agents who have post blast and fire origin-and-cause expertise; forensic chemists; explosives enforcement officers; fire protection engineers; accelerant detection canines; explosives detection canines; and intelligence support, computer forensic support and audit support. The teams work alongside state and local officers in reconstructing the scene, identifying the seat of the blast or origin of the fire, conducting interviews, and sifting through debris to obtain evidence related to the bombing/arson.

Further complementing the team's efforts are technical, legal, and intelligence advisors. Moreover, a fleet of fully equipped response vehicles strategically located throughout the United States is available to provide logistical support.

The NRT will be on the scene of the fires beginning Thursday morning, August 4, 2005. This will be the NRT's 600th activation since the inception of the NRT in 1978.

We've looked at potential significant dates it seems a million ways from Sunday. However, this linkage to the 'Days of Mourning' are justifiable to cause pause and review the potential threat once again. I am not convinced that AQ or other terror threats have nukes here. However, I am not a prophet either and until we see evidence otherwise, it is best for all to stay alert to our surroundings.

We have looked at lots of dates, and most have come and gone with no fan-fair... I suppose there is good reason to conclude that the following will as well.

However, it does appear very many things are aligned for the 6th... and perhaps, beyond. The fact that such a significant Jewish faith period is upcoming certainly makes it worth reevaluating to some degree. Many on here, and elsewhere, have believed a hit against Jewish interests is long overdue.

It is hard to overlook such significant dates coming up... the 10yr anniversaries always get a lot of press, but this is the first time we have had one during this new war. al Qaida has always 'claimed' that their war is one of desperation... we said the same thing about using the bomb in Japan. It was a way to end it.

Jakarta, 2 August (AKI) - A man accused of co-ordinating the 2004 bombings of the Australian embassy in Jakarta in which nine people were killed claims that Osama bin Laden provided the money for the explosives, but while not ruling out this possibility a Jakarta-based security expert has urged more caution in what he says are crucial investigations in determining who is financing terrorism in the region. According to a report in the daily The Australian on Monday, Iwan Dharmawan, also known as Rois, shortly after his arrest las Novemeber told Indonesian authorities that he received 10,000 Australian dollars from a courier sent by Bin Laden.

“I can't exclude that al-Qaeda financed the [9 September 2004] Australian embassy bombings, but I surely can't affirm it. The matter is still open, " security expert Ken Conboy, who is the author of the book "The Second Front: Inside Asia's Most Dangerous Terrorist Network", which focus on Jemaah Islamiyah - the radical islamic group fighting for the establishment of an Islamic state in South East Asia - told Adnkronos International (AKI).

Rois says he learnt that Bin Laden had provided the money from Azahari bin Husin, a Malay suspect beleived to be behind all the major terrorist attacks carried out Indonesia in recent years. Azahari bin Husin and his assistant, Noordin Mohammed Top, are still on the run.

“Finding the sponsors of terror is crucial if we are to lower the intensity of the security threat against Jakarta, ” Conboy told AKI.

“Until 2003 it was quite clear that the money came from Pakistan, but that channel has been blocked. Nobody can now say for sure who finances terrorism in Indonesia. Rois' statement is just a supposition among others, ” Conboy said.

ZAMBOANGA CITY, 3 August 2005 — Security forces stormed an Abu Sayyaf hideout and captured a wanted militant leader tagged as the brains behind a series of bombings in the southern Philippines, officials have said. Troops shot and wounded Alex Kahal, alias Alex Alvarez, after a brief firefight late Sunday in the village of Recodo.
“His capture is a big blow to the Abu Sayyaf. We will not allow terror to reign,” the commander of the army’s 1st Infantry Division, Maj. Gen. Gabriel Habacon, told the Arab News.

On the radio news broadcasts in the past week, I have heard
of arson fires in up to 5 'apartment complexes' that are being considered as arson.

In the San Francisco, Denver and Las Vegas areas.

Las Vegas also had 5 brush fires, that were arson, said to be in 5 acre to 160 acre size, before controlled.

A couple months ago, we have about 5 arson fires here in our trees and brush. Mohave County, Arizona.
