Hi RR

Glad you made it back from there safely.

The last time I went to Vegas was about 5 years ago and I had the same feeling. It was so noisy, so crowded, so many bells and whistles that I almost couldn't stand it.

Many years ago we went there at least twice a year. Things were different then. The older hotels were still standing and the smaller casinos seemed to be a little less frantic.

Although, I would like to see the Bellagio and the Venetian.

I think it was the Riviera that had the bomb scare. Probably some disgruntled gambler phoned in the threat.
I wondered to myself when I heard that, how that old hotel is still there. I don't think they've imploded the old part yet.
But, my fear still remains for this city as far as attack is concerned because there are so many people congregated in one place. All it would take is one vehicle like in Egypt to crash through the lobby doors with explosives. I wonder if they have put in any deterrents for that, did you notice?

Now that I am a "TM-trained Homeland Security Analyst",(LOL) I was on the lookout for bomb laden vehicle deterrents and other security measures. We stayed at the Mandalay Bay and the only time ID was required was for check in and to enter the pool area. There were some very heavy concrete planters at the entrances to both the hotel lobby and the casino entrance, but it would not be difficult for a determined person to drive a car into either place. We were up and down the "strip" and saw no "overt" security measures anywhere. I'm sure they were there, but we didn't see them. (Europe is a different story. Lots of "overtness" goin' on there)

I know "Loose lips sink ships", but I'm certain that those with a wish to do harm will learn nothing new from my post.
