Well, maybe a bit about health? There've been a couple of times at the beach when I've stepped on a lit cigarette and burned my foot. I can't believe I'm the only one.

Madame Dufarge and I lived at the beach for twenty-eight years. Broken glass was 100 times the threat cigarettes were.

Amen as I put in another post:

Well, maybe a bit about health? There've been a couple of times at the beach when I've stepped on a lit cigarette and burned my foot. I can't believe I'm the only one.I have to run, and don't have time to get involved in the discussion on this thread, but just wanted to state that I've also had mewzilla's "cigarette foot burning experience" happen to me a few times while growing up on CT and RI beaches... I've only skimmed this thread, but saw a post where someone stated "I've never heard of that before".
I remember - from the time I was a kid to a young adult - seeing hundreds of cigarette butts strewn over beaches or buried in the sand on various CT/RI beaches, and occasionally stepping on a still-lit one... Not everyone is responsible about disposing their cigarette butts, unfortunately.
