That's a LOT of pet food to buy! I have 3 felines, the cute little thing in the image is the result of a steamy hallway encounter between the pictured yellow tom and his ol' lady.
I better stop talking about katz before someone accuses me of hijacking the thread.
Some of the freepers are making good points in favor of pits, but I maintain that the breed is vicious and unpredictable by design.
It isn't unheard-of to ban ownership of dangerous animals. I'm sure that what's-his-name thought his tiger was perfectly fine until it tried to take his head off on stage back a few months ago. (what's that guy's name?!?!?!)
We ban ownership of crocs and gators in many states, along with other animals that pose a disproportionate threat. So the question is: Should pits be added to the list? I think so.
