So what? Anyone stupid enough to do that deserves to be shot. It won't make anyone back off. It just makes the terrorists easier to kill.

Call me a cynic, but I think a lot of people, particularly in the press, are not altogether comfortable with this "rah-rah, Rule Brittania, We Are Not Afraid" stuff. They are going to be looking for a reason to swing back the other way, roll over on their backs and ask the Islamakazis to scratch their bellies. That is just their default position, and they are looking for a way to get back to it.

The summary execution of an unarmed man in the tube is just the ticket.
