If the UK legal system is similar to that in the US, there should be all sorts of laws at every level of government that can be used to stop (or prosecute) just about anything/anyone. There's zoning, environmental, taxation, continuing criminal enterprise, civil rights, etc. etc. etc. If not, one can always get an appropriate law passed if the legislative body is "properly" motivated.
Looming in the background is what looks like a huge, huge blue mosque under construction. I saw this after 9/11, but don't know exactly when this segment was filmed, but I saw that mosque and had a sense of how far London had gone toward accomodating Islam and my jaw hit the floor.
Now, what I wanted to know is how the (private) building of a mosque is "accomodating Islam". You can argue that the UK shouldn't allow mosque construction, but that is in no way accomodating or not accomodating islam.
(BTW, it was pointed out later that the building in question was not a mosque.)
