If a dirty Islamo nuke goes off in an American city, martial law would be in force immediately. Raids on Muslim enclaves and mass arrests would also take place. Habeas corpus would not be in effect. Attacks on Muslim terrorist supporting nations would also take place (I hope!)

My friend, Americans are not a timid people. Nor are we cowards.

It really depends on one's heritage.
Mine: no problem. We are a free society that respects human rights and honors personal freedoms. Our population of legal citizens are not living in fear and mortal dread of their government.
I remember the atrocities that Japan committed to the innocent non-combattants of Nan King. That and numerous similar horrors probably are no longer in Japanese history books. But stop.
What do you think? Let's guess.

These don't exactly sound to me like "war plans", they sound a lot more like martial-law plans.

No different than "War Plan White" which the U.S. military had in effect for almost 40 years and practiced on a yearly basis. "War Plan White" was part of the famous "Color War Plans" that existed from around 1900 until just after WWII. "War Plan White" was known as the "U.S. Domestic Contingency".

I assume you are intelligent enough to answer whether plans for martial law are for the benefit of the people or the benefit of our rulers.

Perhaps he is "intelligent enough" to see through the false dilemma you pose. Any more fallacies you want to prop up?

Maybe Bush should repeat/restate his famous line...

"You're either with us, or you're against us".....and maybe he should also add...

"If you're against us, and we get attacked on US soil again, you better be 'ready' for those 70 virgins, cause we'll be sending you to your reward ASAP. And no, we won't stop at destroying just your 'mosques'"

US airliner is shot down over Kentucky by terrorists using missiles. Government claims aircraft downed due to windshear in effort to sidestep effects of terror on public (primary goal of the terrorists).

What would you do if you were sitting on your porch in Kentucky, videotaping the kids playing in the yard, and just happenned to get crystal clear video of the missle shooting down the plane?

My initial good citizen reaction would be to give the video to the "authorities". My paranoid tin foil hat wearing X-Files self says to me that I would sit on the video, and wait for the statements to come out to see what happens. If my video proved different from the official story, before I released it, I would buy a lot of life insurance.

Porbably no different, and probably kinder and gentler martial law, too. But this is the age of the Internet, when the what and who of such planning cannot be kept from the people.

Correct Fen:
Martial law is a concompetant requirement of homeland military action as most informed people are aware. Otherwise our military have no legal role on home soil.
Since this creep is so insincere a straight reply would be a waste of time.
He's is obviously on a mission to discredit our President and our government. So why not remind him of his sullied heritage?

Our government does a pretty god job of discrediting itself. It will no doubt perform incompetently if there is a mass-casualty event.

Or do you trust the kind of people you find at TSA checkpoints to keep you and your family safe?

Speculation about how "our government" will do in the face of "mass disaster" is unnecessary.
Remember 9/11? Hundreds of NYFD men and women selflessly gave their own lives when duty called. Sad and tragic as it is (I include them and their families in my prayers..as I am certain many Americans do).
The outbreak of war hostilities in our homeland will hardly compare to the occasional "goosing' your Grandma gets at the JAL check-in counter. Pal.
This is America.

Only to those that have misplaced trust. Yes, this is America, where public sector employees are notoriously lazy and stupid, though, to their credit (I suppose) they are somewhat less corrupt than in Mexico or Nigeria.

Sir, you initiated this exchange on a fulcrum of skepticism and distrust...in our goivernment and in public sector employees. Your mantra had the familiar left wing faux-alarmist "stuff" we've all heard before.
The term "sedition" includes this type of conduct for obvious reasons.
This forum welcomes all points of view. And we steadfastly agree to disagree with those who have no faith in our loyalty and our determination to our defend freedom and way of life.

Sedition? Bosh! 99.99% of government boobs could not spell sedition. Might as well try to prosecute me for miscegenation.

They can't spell that one nuther.

Your replies indicate an odd disinvolvement from the whole prospect of civil unrest in the event of martal law being declared. I get the impression that you think that you would continue to observe and disapprove of civil servants like you currently do (and perhaps always have.) Ain't going to be like that Pal. When War comes to your nieghborhood you will have lots of other things to do.
Your status as an observer will change to active participant.
PS: This has been fun and I must move on. Thanks

not good enough, I want to hear about a list of countries that support muslim fanatics that will be held responsible (Syria,Iran)

x Act LEE!

Its the stinking Iranians and Syrians who should be worrying about attacks on their homeland. THEY are the ones that should be conducting civil defense drills, writing contingency plans and worrying about how to evacuate cities that are about to be nuked - NOT US! Geeezzzz. Unbelievable.

I could understand it if we were up against Russia or China. They have nukes and we can't go and take them away. But stinking mullahdacious Iran and decaying Syria? You've got to be kidding.

I could even understand it if it weren't for the fact that our own President Bush continues to encourage, (or to use Condi's favorite word,) - embolden - an invasion of our country through our borders in a time of war refusing to control them and calling those who do, vigilantes.

I could understand it if one, just ONE, Muslim cleric amongst all 1.2 billion moslems had in the last, oh 4 years, issued even one fatwa of death against Osama bin Ladin. But guess what, there has not been one. Oh they had no problem issuing one on ole Salmon Rushdie because he wrote a book, but they forgot about OBL. Yet my President calls it a religion of Peace?

This is like making contingency plans in case your house is robbed, then leaving the windows, doors, and garage ...open.

President Bush knows they are planing, they are saying, they are bragging, that they are going to attack us. President Bush even knows, AS WE SLEEP, that Syria and Iran are sending terrorists and their supplies across the border into Iraq and are killing our brave troops. Yet Bush does nothing about it.

You know, its not like Iran and Syria have nukes and they could hurt us. WE ARE THE ONES THAT HAVE NUKES. But wait, I'm sorry, sooo sorry, this is a kinder gentler compassionate Religion-of-Peace Vietnam Redux war. We can't use Nukes until our cities are first laid waste - even though we now "say" we reserve the right to use them first.

But being PC is much more important.

Come on Mr. President, this is not bible study, this is not sensitivity training or diversity training or even, yes or even, How-to-handle-a-koran-that-WE-bought-for-the-prisioners training.

Its WAR.

The outcome of the war is in our hands; the outcome of words is in the council.
