Jewish orphanages in Russia

These children are technically not "orphans," they have been removed from abusive homes.

It is probably better for them in these homes with loving, and professional caregivers, than adopted to a foreign family.

Yes, sadly, it is exactly the parental stuff that makes them go round the bend in attachment disorders. My kids thrived in institutional settings at first. It was when they hit up on family intimacy that they became angry and hateful. And certainly they had reason to have those kinds of feelings, as I know our oldest was removed from her birthparents at age 5 for horrid neglect.

It just doesn't occur to these kids that not all parents will be like the first set they had.
