Hillary has always been protected by the press and by softball questions from interviewers. She wasn't seriously challenged by Lazio in the debates. This time around, however, the contrast between Hillary, with her "ums" and "you knows", and the articulate and quick-thinking Pirro, will be striking.
Hillary used the "but I'm a girl" tactic against Lazio. Whenever Lazio asked her some tough questions, she acted like he was an abusive male or something. Then he actually walked over to her and handed her a pledge sheet to sign during their debate. The next day all her supporters and all the press ridiculed Lazio for trying to bully and intimidate her. He was using his machismo to intrude on her delicate personal space, we were told. Oh, poor, poor little Hillary! Oh woe is she to have to face such a macho caveman as Rick Lazio, she being so delicate and all.
Well, at least they won't be able to pull that crap against a female opponent. Not only that, but any real woman will be more feminine than Hillary.
Hillary is not going to like the idea of debating an experienced prosecuting attorney on live TV. And having to fight a vigorous Senate campaign will cost her money that won't be available in 2008
