That was my thought. The dog won't drown, it'll just swim to a bank and get out.
Every dog we've ever owned could swim and that dog looks like it might have a little lab in her, in which case, she not only won't drown, she'll have a nice time going for a swim.

Probably just a tasteless stunt. Locals should contact the sponsors of these morons, preferably the CEO!
THE MICHIGAN PENAL CODE (EXCERPT)
Act 328 of 1931

...(f) Willfully or negligently allow any animal, including one who is aged, diseased, maimed, hopelessly sick, disabled, or nonambulatory to suffer unnecessary neglect, torture, or pain.
...(4) A person who violates subsection (2) is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than 93 days or a fine of not more than $1,000.00 or community service for not more than 200 hours, or any combination of these penalties and the cost of prosecution.

But what if someone holds the dog under water (probably would have to be someone very strong or two or more people).

I sent them an email. I'll try to call later. What disgusting lows people will sink to for publicity.I'll be travelling to that side of that state later today and will be there all weekend. If I see anything on local television or hear anything more on the radio about this sick stunt, I'll post info. Hope everybody who reads this thread takes the time to email and call the station.

Thanks to everyone who phoned or emailed in, for taking the time to express your comments and concerns. Jim and I hope that you also took the time to listen to the finale this morning just after 8am.
To set the record straight, the entire stunt was a complete fabrication. A combination of dog sound effects, recorded audio of our stunt guy outside the building and personal recordings I did of water splashing using my 3 year old son Logans kiddy pool.
Again...THERE WAS NO DOG. (You can actually see where we found the photo of "Mindy" here http://images.google...&btnG=Search+Images)
After the reveal that there was no dog, Melinda Howard of the Greater Grand Rapids Child Safety Coalition was kind enough to join us live on the air to talk about child safety. She will be leading a child safety class today at Millennium Park between Noon and 3pm.
There was never any intention to drown a dog or bring harm to any animal what so ever. What you heard and the way the show was executed was exactly as we had planned.
What we did this morning, we feel needed to happen to grab the proper attention about the dangers of children and water related accidental deaths.
I have a 3 year old son whom I love dearly and 2 cats. In no way would I, Jim or anyone on our staff bring harm to any animal. Thanks to everyone who phoned or emailed in, for taking the time to express your comments and concerns. Jim and I hope that you also took the time to listen to the finale this morning just after 8am.

Of course it is a joke, if they did this they will be in jail before noon, there are laws against animal cruelty. Not to mention the loss of the station's license.

But what if someone holds the dog under water Then they'll go to jail too. This is a stupid radio prank people they aren't going to drown a dog. But they do have people talking about drowning.
SO they've made their point and probably performed a valuable public service.
