Do you realize how long it takes to create the lake behind a dam? Could be a decade.
Lots of things can happen in 10 years.

It's true the Aswan dam lead to the saving of many important sites (at great cost and expense) but it was
a NEEDED project, and not done to destroy Egypt's heritage.
Even the Egyptian government was for saving those sites.
This, this is a travesty.

As I remember, the area is quite arid, But I'm glad I took the photos I did of Persepolis back when I did back in '75. Iran wasn't that bad of a place back then.
