Per WWL--
The key to following Katrina's path is to watch the longitude. At 1:00 P.M. the eye longitude was 88.6; if the eye continues west to 90.0 then New Orleans will be smashed. The eye is currently headed northwest, so this is going to be close!
It wasn't my son, it was shelterguy's son.
901mb--please be wrong.
Listening to the WWL infobabe that's doing the traffic reports, it seems the urgency level is quite a bit higher.
Sounds like the end of the French Quarter. I wouldn't want to be one of the folks on "This Old House" who spent thousands of dollars fixing up one of those old charmers.
I know.
These people have made some terrible decisions.
I'm sickened by the situation they've created.
no change in intensity but moving a little north.
Nah, I'd give em TIME OUT. What my friends who work in dat care do.
You're in the Orlando area too, aren't you? It just amazes me that our weather locally has been affected by this storm for a week- the upper level winds whipping those clouds overhead with squalls. That is an enormous spread of real estate...
Clearly you weren't in the Blizzard of '78. Martial law and a state of emergency for one week. 10,000 cars abandoned on route 128.
Janice Dean....the weather person on Fox just read that incredibly DIRE sounding weather warning that everyone has been questioning janetjanet about....
Someone mentioned seaplanes could be used to bring in supplies(pontoon planes). They are plentiful in the NW to fly to the islands....hope the governors are talking to each other....they will need these planes if there are great numbers of people in the superdome.
Click here for the noaa visible image loop...sorry if already posted, I searched and did not see it...

That would be very sad. But it's even more important to save lives.
