Hurricane Katrina Live Thread, Part VI
NOAA - NHC ^ | 28 August 2005 | NOAA - NHC

Posted on 08/28/2005 2:38:16 PM PDT by NautiNurse

Extremely dangerous Hurricane Katrina is bearing down on the North Central Gulf of Mexico and New Orleans metro area. Thousands of people did not evacuate New Orleans. Outer bands of Katrina are reaching the Louisiana coast.

Due to the size and intensity of this storm, all interests in the North Gulf of Mexico should be in their safe locations.

... I do remember the earthquake that cancelled a World Series games -- the one in San Francisco when the Giants were playing the A's in the Bay series...

I did hear he just really hates baseball.

I really don't think you can be reasoned with, but you make good theater.

Did anyone else hear the mayor suggesting that people in the Dome have sharp objects so they can hack their way onto the roof in case it floods??

I thought that was for people staying in their homes, so they wouldn't be drowned in their attics.

St. Francesville is about 30 miles north of Baton Rouge

I couldn't recall where it was. I'm from farther down... in the swamp...:-)

I'm hoping the apts mhking's niece is in doesn't come down...that's what this discussion was all about...

Arabs no their terrorist...I think you're talking about a dirty bomb...I hear we've not been hit again because it unites America...that's the real reason we've not been hit. If the terrorist sit back and leave us alone, we stay divided ... the liberal loons vs sane American Patriots...

"I wish people understood how important it is to leave ahead of the evacuation orders. You can always turn around and come back home."

That is the best piece of advice I have heard yet!

I have a neighbor, he took your advice, left early. Went over to Palm Beach, this was last year. The hurricane ran right over him in Palm Beach. We got nil.

I have another friend who left their home in Tampa, went to Orlando. Charlie ran right through where he went in Orlando. He said he was never so scared to be in a car and hurricane. Tampa got nil.

Katrina was supposed to go north of us, we would be out of the range. It hit Miami and turned south, it went way to close to our south. We got 77 mph gusts.

So it doesn't always work. You takes your chances, but there is no magic bullet.

I shudder what the DUmmies must be saying about Clarence Thomas staying in NOLA.

If he were leaving, they would say he is too cowardly to be on the Supreme Court. Since he is staying, they will say that he is too dumb to be on the Supreme Court.

One track minds, the lot of them...
