Probably the most definitive article I've seen on Slidell all day.
Apparently this was a very big hurricane that affected the lives of a great amount of people.
Hopes and prayers out to the folks at Red Simpson in Sliddel working on the lines...
Thanks for the post--we lived there between June of 99 and August of 2000--it is a nice town and I have been looking for information on what happened there. We lived in the Ozone Woods subdivision for anyone familiar with the town.
BTW, my brother is still in N.O. and we haven't heard from him since yesterday afternoon...pray that he is still safe and out of harm's way!
SHE WAS ON THE PHONE WITH HER BROTHER IN LAW WHEN SHE SCREAMED THE ROOF WAS LIFTING OFF AND THERE WERE MORE SCREAMS IN THE BACKGROUND AND THEN THE PHONE WENT DEAD.
We are her cousins in MIAMI FL and we just got our power back a few hours ago! (Freeper, ExSoldier) and family just returned home from a short stay on the West coast of Florida (the heat was killing pups and wife)
Her mother is out of her mind with worry. But she is pretty isolated in Lake City, Florida.
Husband Dave is a sheriff's reserve officer with the St TAMMANY Parish dept. We need a disposition on him and of course on the kids, son (9) and daughter (15) and the Dog, if possible.
Anybody who can help, PLEASE send me freep mail. So many others have helped with links to news stories from Slidell, but we need a look (or a report) at DONYA STREET specifically. EYES ON THE GROUND, so to speak.
Ping! -- here's some Slidell info.

Very telling pictures of the devestation. Thanks.
Anyone know the whereabouts (where he evacuated to, or if still in Slidell) of Robert "Rusty" Williams? He is the principal of one of the elementary schools there, and my uncle. We haven't had contact in a few days, and before that everything souded like he was evacuating, but as the storm hit we found out his girlfriend wanted to stay.... anyone with info freep mail or Email me (schwae25@aol.com)....

Not sure if you've seen this one yet.
Bless you
Thank you for your information on Slidell -- Our sister lives in the Tallor's Trace subdivision between 1-10 and Miliatry -- we would appreciate any information on that area ---
Know our thoughts and prayers and with all -- wish we were there to help --
Thanks Karl,
First place I came to see the status was FreeRepublic (hey, I wanted the truth).
I'm bugged out of Slidell in Oxford Mississippi waiting to come back. No news yet and I don't want to be in the way.
For those that need more links you can go to www.nola.com and there is a link to St. Tamminy thread there as well as www.wwltv.com there is a thread at the bottom of that page as well.
From what I can tell, the Marina is shot and the areas up to Fremeaux were flooded. Military and Crossgates saw moderate damage and the areas around I12 saw little damage.
I don't know because I can't get there but I've been reading threads in other places and some people have managed to call out.
The authorities appear to be in control for rescue. Services are going to be slow since we will be competing with those that need help in other areas. So, be calm, be safe and we will get through this.
