No need to use the water that flowed in through the dikes,. NOLA has just been through a hurricane. There is rain water that has collected in numerous places. And there are thousands of toilet tanks still holding clean city water. (Note: I said "tanks" not "toilets".)

Failing that, contaminants in the flood water are so diluted that if you dip below the surface, (to avoid floating petrochems) drinking enough of it (thoroughly boiled, of course) to prevent dehydration is better than death. Squeamisness is not a survival trait.

It doesn't take much dehydration to begin to derange a human's mental processes. Go ahead and dehydrate -- and become incapacitated -- and die -- of dehydration...waiting for somone else to serve you a drink.

I, for one, will take care of myself -- and others around me -- and survive. You, OTOH, would be begging for a Darwin Award.

Here's your epitaph:

Unfortunately, yours might not be the only such tombstone...

Do you understand that the roads are blocked by Natl' Guard and only authorised vehicles are allowed in? Those people don't. They have no idea what's going on.

But I'm safe here in my home with air conditioning and food and drinks. They probably don't know what is best for them! Stupid me!

You need to get a grip. I discouraged no one. I told you what the authorities are saying. I gave you the number to volunteer. If you don't call, that's your problem. Quit blaming me if you're afraid to call.

They have already declared Marshall Law so it would be legal.

I am not sure Marshall Law makes it legal, perhaps martial law does though. Are you thinking of former justice Thurgood Marshall or some other Marshall?

There are basically three groups of people currently in NO right now, not counting tourists and those trying to rescue or establish law and order.

Before you knock on Group 2 and blame their families or call them names, don't forget that this group also includes a whole lot of military wives and children. I would hate to be one of those reservest in Iraq knowing my wife was all alone, pregnant, alone with my children, maybe without a car , with the rest of the family out of state. Heck, when we were first married we didn't even have a credit card. I could certainly understand how a young family could get into a pinch. It's a horrible situation that noone deserves to be in and any of us could be in.
