The attacks on Bush were for no other reason but to deflect attention away from their 30 year obstruction of offshore drilling and refinery construction. The Dems cannot afford for there to be a reasoned public debate on energy policy, so they deflect.

Oh, the Republicans have answers. They just don't go out and say them on National TV for fear of offending the Dems and the MSM. You see, the average Republican thinks to him or her self "I got 62% last time. If I suck up to the media and they start to write nice things about me, I can hit 70% next time."
