Don't misunderstand my opposition to the word, it has nothing to do with race. Refugee implies one without a home. America is where they hang their hat.
Guyot is a babbling old fool. Nothing he says ever makes any sense..
You fecking dim bulb..
But then you are a paid agitator poverty pimp..and stirring up racial divisiveness is how you make your living...
You worthless piece of trash...
imo
No, but the word "racist" is racist.
If these left wing jerk ovz want to be of some use

What the heck should we call the crowds on TV, "New Orleans Houstonites" ???
That sounds vaugely PC.
I am tired of any black related issues.
I can't take their crap.
it's so annoying, constant, and just cRappy.
Ask Tom Petty.
Oh, I know. I was just disagreeing that it implies being displaced from one's own country.
Refugee implies one without a home. America is where they hang their hat.
If you mean that wherever they may end up in America, they still have a home, I like that sentiment very much.
I was glad to see that local merchants already have tons of signs out announcing discounts and other kinds of assistance for residents of Louisiana or Mississippi, and local talk radio is wall-to-wall calls of people asking how they can help.
keyboard spew!
It is not Racist but it is not appropriate in this case unless the folks are trying to get away from Mayor Nagin
coffee-->nose-->keyboard
don't DO that!
I drink chickory blend coffee, and that's gonna be in short supply for a while now! Too precious to waste on screens and keyboards.
"Someone who is seeking refuge"
I agree wholeheartedly, and used the term "American refugees" in the editorial column I write in my southern town (in Thursday's paper). No hate mail so far, but now that the guy on O'Reilly brought up the topic, I'm sure I'll get some. What a stupid, stupid debate...
I am not sure why this term has ticked me off but it has. When I hear the correspondence saying the "refugee's are going here" "the refugee's are doing this" I think they are Louisiana's whose home maybe gone and they are in need of assistance.
I feel like I am about to see folks from Cuba get off a boat. Not American's going to a shelter. It was the media that put that out there. I would prefer for them to stop but what I want and what they do are two entirely different things.
The other thing, the race issue. To inject that into this tragedy is just wrong. WRONG. I am glad many have taken those in high position to task for such remarks. They are poor, they are the elderly they are young folks starting out .. they are white and black.
New Orleans takes in a lot of money, from Mardi Gras. What have the powers that be done to help those in poverty raise their living standards. Giving the ability to take a hand up rather than a hand out. These folks, and I am taking the Mayor at his words, are the poorest, well the poorest, with medical needs are now moving to another state who has their own problems and citizens to worry about. Those relocating will put a dent into their resources. But, Texas was willing and offered and I applaud their efforts.
They are a fellow American's, not refugee's. I hope the race card will be put aside.
New Orleans solution to poverty (especially with the influx of Mardi Gras visitors) was to send out Flame-Bos to carry gas lit torches and scrounge for loose change tossed on the ground by spectators.
Sad but true.
I'm not sure he really said that, but considering how the Grievance Industry cries "wolf" so much, it's easy to understand how such can be readily believed.
