Before this whole thing I had a complex about white people; this thing changed me forever, said Brant, 36, a truck driver who, like many of the refugees receiving public assistance in Houston, Texas, is black.
Can something good come out of disaster of this proportion? Maybe so. Thank you for posting this story, it is truly inspiring.
I agree, Peach. Thanks a million for taking the time to write it, comitatus. It should be posted on a thread of its own as well. Will you do that?
bookmark - thanks
Bump. Thanks for the info.
Great recp on info. so far. Thank you. Bookmarked.
Thank you for posting the updated sat photos link. Hadn't seen an update since Aug 31. whole lot more locations covered now. Have already forwarded this to a friend from Biloxi.
Thank you
Heck, I thought they did that 5 years ago.
CO, pinging you to the Katrina thread, in case you didn't find it yet.
Were you following the story of Snowball? That was the little dog that wasn't allowed on one of the buses going to Houston last week, his little boy was so upset he started throwing up.
The animals were being left behind on the side of the road, there were a bunch of cages set up there -- looks like one of the shelters has been taking them in though -- see post 878.
I hope that little boy is reunited with Snowball one of these days. It was wrenching just to hear them report about that incident on tv.
Thanks for your post. I'm just now back on the computer and read it.
As I said previously, I'm just trying to get the facts straight, so it's nice to have people who understand the government "procedures" to explain it here at FR.
WOW!!! remarkable images!!!!
Thank you. I'd been saving links and going to put something like this together for my own use. I work with a bunch of barking moonbats and know I'm going to need to have my ammunition ready.
Much appreciated!

It's time to start watching 94L. Several models suggest it will cross FL and develop into a hurricane in the gulf.
You can watch the animation of the model here.
Scary stuff. Several other models show it taking a similar course over Florida towards the Gulf coast. In fact, only some models show it not making landfall at all.
I know its early days for this system, but this needs to be looked at, seriously.
Clinton inferred that W dropped the ball on the so-called levee study his administration was working on. He made the same claim after 9/11. I noticed that Bush 41 didn't get a chance to respond to that outrageous statement but I'm sure he had plenty to say. Clinton had better wear his flak jacket around Mrs. Bush, as her husband recommended anyone who criticizes her son should do.
I almost lost it when Bush 41 mentioned how hard it was to keep up with B(?) sorry, BC, that he was "just like an Energizer Bunny". Well, I can think of an amazing resemblance he has to bunnies, but I won't post it here. It looks like it may all be catching up with him. He is a total disgrace to the Office of the President.
thanks for making my day
Last time I was in NOLA was a year ago. I remember a local couple saying that they drive from NO to Mississippi to the casinos. Sorry, I got the wrong impression. I assumed they didn't have them in NO. Either that, or I saw one and didn't pay attention. With Atlantic City an hour from me, gambling is just not my thing.
Snap. Beat me by seconds.
