Major Garrett new blockbuster----Salvation Army efforts at supplying the evacuees BLOCKED.
Hugh Hewitt ^ | Sept 8 2005 | Hugh Hewitt

Posted on 09/08/2005 4:42:37 PM PDT by Dog

The Fox News Channel's Major Garrett made another appearance on the program this evening, following up on his blockbuster story yesterday. Among other things, Garrett got confirmation --on camera-- of the Louisian State department of Homeland Security's blocking of the delivery of relief supplies to the Superdome and the Convention Center. In addition, Garrett received confirmation from senior Salvation Army officials in Washington, D.C. that the Salvation Army's efforts at supplying the evacuees were also repeatedly blocked. Radioblogger will have the transcript up later, but the key takeaway was when I asked Garrett if characterizing Louisian's preparation for the storm as "abysmal" was accurate and he confirmed that indeed it was. Read the whole thing.

I also asked Garrett why no other network is on this story. He can't offer an answer for that, event hough he points out that this isn't a hard story to get, and Fox News needn't be credited. All CNN has to do (or MSNBC or CBS) is call the Red Cross and get a camera over there.

"All CNN has to do (or MSNBC or CBS) is call the Red Cross and get a camera over there. *** "

All three of those networks stink to high heaven. Stop watching them.

The poll they are touting today with his low numbers was admittedly oversampled with Blacks to get their desired results. MSM tatics as usual.

Maybe. But she didn't, and he didn't either.

Yes I know that, but it is a sad state of affairs if the Pres. had to go up to that point to get Blanco to act

I think they way she and other people (REps) that are making comments like she has....remind me of the TV military guys that get on TV and question every move that the military has made in Iraq...

They all KNOW, that war plans are basically thrown out the window, after the first day of fighting, and you have to adjust as you go along...

WHEN has there ever been a precedent to compare Bush's reponse to....in order to be so critical...I just don't get how Laura and some others just have totally missed it on this...

Wow.

The adage that Democrats scream to the heavens accusing Republicans of dastardly deeds to distract public attention from rat-work is so true.

Probably nothing more than incompetence on the part of the city and state officials. But they may have simply been waiting for orders from above that never came.

On H&C tonight JJ said the NO mayor and local officials could not build levees as they had no power over them. Hannity assumed his deer in the head lights look, and JJ went unanswered for his lie. Hannity must read from text or have his pat mantra, for that boy cannot think on his feet.

How about Major Garrett? A real journalist doing real investigation of the facts. Instead of just interviewing Al Sharpton or Nancy Pelosi.

An Australian paper is reporting the Red Cross/State Homeland Security story. Not one media outlet in the US can report it but the Ausies can?

Excerpt from:
Bush still not to blame
http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5478,16541438^25717,00.html

And remember all those victims in the Superdome, screaming for food and water? That suffering that proved Bush had failed?

The American Red Cross says it tried to bring in supplies to them soon after the hurricane hit, but was blocked by state officials.

It explained: "The (Louisiana) state Homeland Security Department had requested -- and continues to request -- that the American Red Cross not come back into New Orleans following the hurricane.

"Our presence would keep people from evacuating and encourage others to come into the city."

Yes, that suffering you saw was deliberately caused by the Democrat state administration to starve the poor out of New Orleans. So explain to me again why Bush is to blame, Jill. And why it's mean to show the facts that say you're wrong.

I think that the closer that we get to the congressional committee starting their hearings, the more SHRILL will be the screaming from the left...

Anything to distract from what they know will come out of LA...

NOW, they will say that since they won't participate in a cong. hearing...that anything short of doing what THEY want, will not be legitimate...in fact, Pelosi already said that if there is even ONE more Republican on a congressional investigation, even if it is bi-cameral and bi-partisan, then it will be a "WHITEWASH"...which I thought

was an interesting choice of words for La Pelosi to use.. So see, she has already set it up that any evidence against anyone but Bush, will be considered a whitewash by the Reps.

If Freepers stopped watching Keith Olbermann, he'd probably lose half his audience.

The U.S. Attorney General should appoint a special prosecutor. It looks like the Governor of Louisiana conspired with others to commit criminal negligence that resulted in death at the Superdome, the Convention Center, and the I-10 overpass.

Those are not the only deaths they are responsible for.

Press Secretary should be the DI from Full Metal Jacket...his name escapes me at the moment but I think there was a thread about how this DI would handle a press conference on here in the past.

When I read Major Garrett's story on the Louisiana government keeping out the Red Cross, my thought was, let the Democrats keep blaming the President. Let's have one more day of Democrat stupidity. Let them keep it up. Because, in the end, they will look like buttheads. Which is what they are. They can't help themselves.

If Gov Blanco were to be found guilty of all this someday, could she also be charged with kidnapping for each and every NO citizen she held with out food or water?

I mean, what could all the charges against her be?

The state of Louisiana is infamous for corruption. Every other public official down there has been indicted for something.

Assuming Congress is going to come through with a gazillion dollars to rebuild New Orleans, how much of that money will actually make it to where it's intended. and who is going to watchdog it at every level?

I’m sure we can count on Nagin and Blanco to use the money wisely. Ya think?
