Saddam defied the UN Resolutions that allowed him to remain in power after we, and our allies, had to go kick him out of Kuwait. He was FINALLY held accountable for his actions, and he was FINALLY removed from power. I find it quite frustrating that people seem to forget about that.

Can you imagine the hell that would have broken loose in 1946 if Hirohito had said, "You know what? That whole surrender thing is not working for me, and in fact, i won the war, so we'll start shooting at your planes again and try to assassinate FDR. But remember, we aren't a threat."

The situation with Saddam is pretty much the same, but there are still people who act as if Dubya got up one day and invaded Iraq just to tick libertarians off. And the funny part is they think they've got a real bead on the reality of warfighting and geopolitics.
