Anti-Americanism Dragging Canada Down Conservative Leader Warns Prime Minister

HALIFAX, September 9, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The venomous attacks against the United States leadership and its citizens by brazen Liberal politicians using any excuse (Iraq, missile defence, mad-cow, softwood lumber) to assuage their seething hatred of American pro-life and pro-family policies by Bush-bashing, is beginning to have palpable effects.

The President of the United States seems to have less and less time and priority for Prime Minister Paul Martin, and given the strained relations, it's no surprise suggests Conservative Leader Stephen Harper.

In an address to the Conservative Caucus Wednesday, Harper noted poignantly that "This government's lack of competence and vision in the Canada-U.S. relationship has led Canada to lose influence and relevance with our most important trading partner. Now, we are threatened with having to have a passport to cross the border by 2008."

Well, don't get too arrogant, US imports more oil from Canada than anywhere else on earth....

The liberal government of Canada needs to go... The Western Provinces should seceed, since they are basically bastard children anyway as far as Quebec is concerned, and go back to being their own nation.

But what about the Maritimes? They're poor and they're losing what little industry they have left. Tourism is practically all that remains. There's no way in hell that the Maritimes could survive on their own.

I hope the reduced import or the higher price of Canadian oil doesn't impact car sales in the U.S. Sluggish U.S auto sales may cause U.S. auto makers to close more Canadian auto plants, like GM's assembly plant in Ste. Therese, Quebec.

"GM: Camaro Factory to Close"

"General Motors Corp. has announced it will phase out production of the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird next year and permanently close an assembly plant in Ste. Therese, Quebec."

"At its peak, the Ste. Therese plant employed about 3,000 hourly employees."

That's why the US has to take over the English-speaking part of Canada - and Quebec should go on its own...

That actually poses another problem.

Just under 1/3 of the population of NB are French-speakers. They routinely vote AGAINST Quebec independence because then they'd be swallowed up by English Canada, and they don't want to see that happen.

These are people whose ancestors settled in the Maritimes BEFORE English-speaking Loyalists sought refuge up there, and they want to keep their heritage intact. NB is the only truly bilingual province, and they haven't had all the problems Quebec has had. Quebec has done its best to outlaw English, whereas NB treats the 2 language groups equally. Yes, the population is dwindling, but not because of any language problems. It's because the socialists in the Federal government are making it tougher and tougher for them to survive. As I said earlier, their industry is disappearing. Logging and fishing were major industries, but all the regulations have resulted in fewer and fewer opportunities in those areas.

Then, de-populate and give it back to the natives.

Lets see....3000 employees X $50,000/yr = 150,000,000.00/yr...the government takes 40% or $60 million ....

I think the English speaking part of Canada would actually like their own country. Nothing against the US but I don't think a "take over" would sit well.

If Canada breaks up, the U.S. should certainly not try to force any of the provinces to join the U.S. Anyway it's doubtful that it would be in our interest to have any part of Canada added to the U.S., except maybe Alberta. Canadians tend to be more liberal than Americans so adding them to the U.S. would only benefit the Democratic Party.

David H. Wilkins, the new U.S. ambassador to Canada (a South Carolinian) was on C-SPAN recently. He sounded like a good man for the job.

Paul Cellucci. The guy was honest and didn't pull any punches when it came to Washington's opinion on Canadian issues.
