Football (soccer that is) is the most popular sport in the world, so it must have something going for it.

It's popular because all you need is a ball. It's great for poor kids to play around the burned out hunks of a t-55 tank while mustafa is strapping dynamite to their cousin.

Usually, when people grow up, they move on to something a little more complex and mentally stimulating, but ther will always be cling-ons to the ultra-simple.

As for popularity, the worlds most popular spectator sport is auto racing.
