True. However, are these sports really American? Basketball was devised by a Canadian (although I think he invented it in the USA) Baseball I understand is evolved from rounders, which is an English school game. Volleyball I think is a combination of elements of basketball (Canadian), baseball (English), tennis (France), and handball (ancient Egypt) The only bonefide all American sport that I can think of is is Gridiron.

Actually, a quick Google reveals that Gridiron is actually derived from rugby, another English school sport, and which itself evolved from football (soccer that is)
Is there any popular sport of American origin?
