Stop Taking Our Property (petition)

Since the Kelo v. New London decision by the Supreme Court, local governments around the United States have seized over 30 properties for economic development, specifically citing the Kelo case as the precedent to do so. Lives have been ruined, rights have been trampled and the state and federal government has waited to fix the problem. The spirit of the Kelo case has come to Stockbridge, Georgia. The Stockbridge City Council has condemned several properties to build a new town center and a new City Hall, while only offering the property owners a small fraction of what their property is worth. The City of Stockbridge has ignored the the cries of concerned citizens of city of Stockbridge and Henry County. We are urging Governor Sonny Perdue to call a special session of the Georgia General Assembly to deal with the problem of eminent domain and to protect property owners. Property rights are the foundation of a free nation. The Constitution of the State of Georgia says in Article I, Section I, Paragraph II that "Protection to person and property is the paramount duty of government." The Governor has said that the legislature would deal with eminent domain in January 2006. Meanwhile property rights are being taken away in the State. The property owners in Stockbridge don't have until January. The Legislature must act now.

I've said it before, and others have said it also. If Bork had been confirmed for the Court instead of Kennedy, this decision wouldn't have been handed down.

So much for the "living Constitution" . . .

This travesty by the Marxist activists on the SCOTUS, is just a taste of what you would get with Hitlery in the Oval Office....hammer and sickle all the way.

Do you have a link to a news article about this Stockbridge case? Our Republican county party has been working hard to get the county to pass stromger protection for the citizens, the mayor in essense told us to not worry, the state of GA already had strong protection for Georgians.

Don't worry, trust me! Yikes!

This is the first one CBS did. They've done two pieces on it.

My tagline addresses this point.

The frog is cooked.

I wonder if the emminent domain applies to the property of congressmen and senators? I'll bet it doesn't. And who is to decide what warrants property seizure? Nobody will seize my property for a video store anything.
